General Financial Aid Information
UT Southwestern strongly encourages all eligible students to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or, if ineligible for FAFSA, the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA). Note: DO NOT file both a FAFSA and a TASFA. The FAFSA becomes available each October, and financial aid notices are sent annually in late Spring for the upcoming academic year.
Scholarships and grants are primarily awarded during the admissions process by the student’s academic program. We also recommend that students apply for scholarships from sources outside the university; more information is available on our website.
Students are responsible for promptly reporting any outside scholarships, grants, or financial support they receive at any point during their academic career at UT Southwestern. Students should notify the Office of Student Financial Aid as soon as they become aware of any such funding. UT Southwestern will make any necessary adjustments to a student’s financial aid based on outside funding (also called Financial Aid Displacement) in the manner that will most benefit the student, reducing or cancelling loans before gift aid whenever possible and within federal regulation, state statute, and institutional policy.
Questions about outside scholarships or financial aid displacement should be sent to financialaid@utsouthwestern.edu.
